Rose des Sables is a type of crystalline silica, also known as septaria quartzite. It occurs as rocks that contain crystals of quartz and limestone surrounded by zeolites and clay. The color is usually an orange to reddish brown, sometimes streaked with black.
Desert roses typically form in terrestrial environments rich in volcanic or hydrothermal activity. When hot solutions rich in gases and minerals mix with clay and rock tuffs, the liquid separates into slow streams that deposit sheets of concentrated crystals.
People use sand rose to decorate their homes, and many artists use it as a base for their work. It is often used as part of lithotherapy and can help balance the chakras and bring peace and serenity.
In terms of chemical composition, sand rose is approximately 90% silica, with traces of clay, limestone, potassium and magnesium. It also contains minerals such as feldspar, pyrite and mica.
