Microcline is a mineral from the feldspar family, one of the most important families of earth minerals. It is essentially made of aluminum and potassium silicate. It generally appears in the form of light-colored crystals, ranging from white to gray, but can also take on brighter shades such as pink or green, depending on the impurities present. Microcline is characterized by its triclinic crystal system, its hardness on the Mohs scale is 6, which makes it quite resistant to erosion. It is often associated with other minerals in igneous rocks, such as granite, or metamorphic rocks. Due to its resistance to erosion and abundant distribution, microcline is an important mineral in soil formation.
