Rhodonite is a mineral belonging to the silicate family, more precisely, it is a manganese silicate. This mineral is often recognized for its distinctive pink color, which can vary from pale pink to dark pink, sometimes with black inclusions of oxidized manganese. The name Rhodonite comes from the Greek word "rhodon", meaning "rose". It has a hardness of 5.5 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale, which means it is relatively scratch resistant. In terms of crystal structure, Rhodonite belongs to the triclinic system, which means that it has no axes of symmetry and three axes of unequal lengths. It is often used as an ornamental stone in the making of jewelry and art objects.
