Rose quartz is a mineral belonging to the silicate family, just like the more common hyaline quartz. Rose quartz is distinguished by its high hardness, which makes it scratch resistant. It is also transparent to translucent, with a glassy sheen. It is also used to make decorative objects and sculptures.
