Amazonite is a potassium sodium silicate mineral from the feldspar series of minerals. It is composed mainly of aluminum complex, potassium and sodium silicate, as well as a small amount of iron oxide.
Its color varies from light green to blue green, with occasional white and light purple nuances.
Amazonite occurs in pegmatite alongside quartz, potassium feldspar, and associated minerals such as beryl, muscovite, tourmaline, and alkali feldspar.
Volcanic rocks can also contain amazonite.
The main producing country of amazonite is Brazil, although amazonite is also found in Russia, Ethiopia, Kenya, and the United States.
Amazonite is a popular mineral for collecting, and is also used in jewelry making and carvings. Moreover, it is also used as a color mineral for the ceramics and glassware industry.
