Calcite is a mineral species known since antiquity and consisting of carbon, oxygen and calcium. Calcite due to its many possible inclusions, has a wide range of possible colors: zinc, iron, copper, manganese, barium, magnesium, aluminum, cobalt ... Calcite is an aragonite. In crystalline form it presents several forms of crystals: more or less elongated prisms, rhombohedra, tablets. Calcite has many industrial applications, in particular in construction: cement, lime, ornamental stones ... We usually find calcite in limestone and metamorphic rocks like marble.
