Shungite is a non-crystalline black mineral of organic origin, mainly composed of carbon. It is mainly found in the Karelia region of Russia. It is distinguished by its unique molecular structure, which is a form of carbon called fullerenes. Fullerenes are spherical carbon molecules that have unique properties, including the ability to act as antioxidants. Shungite is also known for its exceptional electrical conductivity, which is quite rare for a non-metallic mineral. Its age is estimated at around 2 billion years, making it one of the oldest minerals on earth.
