Shungite is a sedimentary rock of organic origin, famous for its unique composition rich in carbon. This rock, originating from Karelia in Russia, contains fullerenes, carbon molecules with remarkable properties. These fullerenes are considered responsible for many of the virtues attributed to shungite, including its ability to absorb electromagnetic waves.
There are several types of shungite. Silver shungite: The purest, with a carbon content of up to 98%. Its glassy appearance and rarity make it a highly prized variety. Black shungite : The most common, with a carbon content of between 50% and 70%. It is easier to work and polish. Shungite rock: This term refers to rocks containing less carbon than typical shungites.
Shungite is valued for its physical and energetic properties. Its ability to absorb electromagnetic waves makes it a material of choice for protection against nuisances related to electronic devices. In addition, it is used to purify water and is said to be beneficial for general well-being.
