Fuchsite, also known as chrome mica, is a mineral belonging to the silicate family, more precisely to the phyllosilicates group. Its chemical formula indicates that it is composed of potassium, aluminum, chromium, silicon, oxygen and hydrogen. Its distinct green color is due to the presence of chromium in its structure. It generally forms in metamorphic rocks such as gneiss and schist. Fuchsite appears in the form of flakes or plaques and has a pearly or glassy sheen. It is mainly used as an ornamental stone and in jewelry.
